This lady has taken excellent care of herself but the unavoidable effects of aging have caused some loosening of the skin and soft tissues, and given her a tired, severe, and somewhat gaunt appearance. Tightening alone, such as with a face lift, will not correct the volume loss in her fat. This is a situation where fat grafting is ideal, as it replaces exactly what has been lost, with the patient's own fat. I recommended a mini-facelift with fat grafting.

After

Here, she is 4 months out from the procedure. By this time, any cosmetic benefit from the fat grafting should be enduring. A total of 34 cc of fat was placed in the cheeks and around the mouth. Notice how much softer and youthful her face looks. A facelift alone could not have done this.
