Before

This lady came in seeking a smoother complexion. She had never had facial plastic surgery and did want to do anything major. She did try to stay out of the sun as much as possible. She had a fair complexion, making her skin more sensitive to sun damage and aging but also more responsive to things like chemical peels. I recommended a facial peel with 50% trichloroacetic acid, one of the safest, most popular peeling agents.

She is shown 4 months after a 50% TCA peel done under IV sedation. She had almost no pain during the recovery and her skin was 90% healed at 1 week. This is a superb result and not every patient will get one so dramatic. Although TCA peels do not usually cause permanent lightening of the skin, all peels can do this and in her case you can see a subtle but visible lightening of the facial skin tone compared to her neck. It is not enough to require any coverup makeup to hide. This patient goes to show what a TCA peel can do in a patient who is a good candidate for this. I was thrilled and so was she.
