Before
T his gentleman presented with severe rhinophyma, an unusual but not uncommon condition in which the oil glands enlarge, producing a large, irregular, bulbous look to the nose. When severe, as in this case, it can restrict breathing throught the nose. It is related to rosacea. The cause is felt to be partially hormonal and due to mites that live in the glands of the nose. The best treatment is to shave off the excess tissue with a hot wire loop. He is shown before surgery.

In this photo he is 9 months out from his original surgery and 6 weeks from a minor revision to correct a retracted right nostril from scar.
