Patient - Breast Reconstruction

Before

This young  lady developed a large mass in her left breast. A biopsy revealed an unusual tumor call phyllodes, considered to be a very low grade cancer. Her surgeon felt that she would to well with a nipple sparing mastectomy and she wished to have reconstruction done simultaneously. I placed a tissue expander at the time of her surgery. I did not feel comfortable trying to put in an implant large enough to match the right side immediately. After succesfull expansion, I replaced the expander at a second operation with a Mentor Memory Shape (these are the new "gummy bear" implants with a gel that does not run or leak) gel implant. The volume of the implant is 420 cc, which produced a nice match to the right side. She is shown before and six months after her surgery. The reconstructed breast feel soft and very natural.
