Before

This patient had cancer of her left breast. She underwent a lumpectomy, but had positive margins so a second lumpectomy was done. The margins were still positive so her surgeon recommended a total mastectomy (removal of the breast). She decided to have the right one removed as a preventitive measure. She sought reconstruction and I felt her best option was to put in tissue expanders at the time of the mastectomy. Her weight and other medical issues made her a poor candidate for using her own skin and fat for reconstructing both breasts. 

She is shown before surgery. The scar from her lumpectomies can be clearly seen. 

After

These photos were taken at her final visit. She waited over one year to replace her tissue expanders with implants due to family issues. She then waited another two years before deciding to have nipple/areola reconstruction. She elected to do this using just permanent tattooing. Her breasts have a nice shape, she likes the size, and they are exquisitely soft. Her implants are Mentor MemoryGel smooth, high profile gel implants with a volume of 755 cc. She can wear normal bras, clothes, etc.
