Patient - Abdominoplasty

Before

This lady lost nearly 100 lb after a gastric bypass procedure and has kept it off for over four years. She came in unhappy with the bulging of her abodomen, which she could not modify with exercise and she had loose skin as well and she did not like the roll of skin and fat in the lower abdomen. In addition, prior abdominal surgery had left her with a deep vertical scar below the belly button. I offered her an abdominoplasty, but counseled her on the importance of having reasonable expectations for the surgery.

After

She is shown six months after the surgery. I removed over 3 lb of skin and fat from the lower abdomen. Her scar is still a bit purple, but this will fade with a bit more time and the final scar should be very faint. She is delighted with the result and I am pleased as well. Her body will never be perfect, but this improvement was worth the effort.
