Patient - Breast Augmentation

This is a nearly 14 year follow up on a saline implant breast augmentation. She came to see me in 2006 seeking a breast augmentation. Silicone gel implants were still off the market for cosmetic surgery due to the moratorium on them. She said her bra size was a 36 C, which she did not fill out. I inserted a pair of 350 cc Mentor smooth, round, moderate profile implants under the muscle and filled them to 375 cc. She obtained a wonderful result and her bra size went to a full C (bra size is very imprecise and I would have put her preop bra size at a B cup and her postop at a C/D cup, but that is an educated guess). She was delighted with her new breasts and had normal feeling in them. They felt very natural. Over the years, unlike most patients, she returned periodically for a check up and remained very happy. I saw her recently, over 13 years out from her surgery. Over the years, she put on a bit of weight, 118 lb to 134 lb. Not very much but her breasts grew as well. Although I did not ask her bra size, she is now clearly a full D to DD. Her exam feels almost entirely natural and her implants are soft and clearly intact. She has asked about a lift or a reduction but I have told her she looks too good for such extensive surgery at this time. She asked if she needs to have her implants replaced and I told her I do not believe need to replace implants simply because of how old they are. I expect she will get a few more good years from them. She is in excellent health.
